Al Qutami: The awards reflect the quality of medical services provided by the Authority

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, November 25, 2019:   The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has announced that it has won several prestigious local, regional and international awards for its services, initiatives and applications. The Authority has also won leadership awards.

The awards highlight a number of initiatives, which stemmed from innovative ideas that were developed and implemented to enhance the health services and health management functions at the DHA to provide high-quality care and ensure an efficient health system.

H.E. Humaid Al Qutami, Director General of the DHA said that the awards won by the DHA reflect the quality of medical services it provides to community members and visitors.

Al Qutami highlighted that provision of the highest quality of patient care, patient experience and satisfaction are core pillars of the DHA's strategy to ensure it provides high-quality accessible and specialized care to community members and visitors.

His Excellency expressed his appreciation to the winners of the award and reiterated the importance to continue focusing on further enhancing patient care and healthcare facilities management.

It is the vision of the Dubai Health Strategy 2016-2021 to provide Dubai's community members and visitors with high quality specialised and accessible health services. Use of smart technology across all areas of healthcare from administration to patient engagement is one of the tools to achieve this vision.

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) won four corporate awards at the 2019 International Business “Stevie Awards” for its innovative projects and quality services in the field of healthcare.

The DHA won two gold and two silver awards after competing against more than 4,000 entries from 74 countries.

The authority's “Nabadat Initiative” won a gold award in the CSR category and was titled the “Corporate Social Responsibility Programme of the Year in the Middle East and Africa” while the Dubai Thalassemia Centre won a gold award in the category of “Company of the Year-Health Products and Services”.

The DHA also won two silver awards for its DHA website in the “Best Website” category and the other for its Dammi smart feature under the DHA's flagship app for the “Best Mobile App by a government entity” category.

Nabadat, which means heartbeat in Arabic, is a programme launched by the Mohammed bin Rashid Charity and Humanitarian Establishment in collaboration with the DHA to alleviate the suffering of impoverished children with congenital heart disease.

The initiative, which is taking place under the patronage of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, provides free medical assistance, life-saving surgery and post-surgical care to children whose parents cannot afford to pay for treatment of congenital heart diseases.

Meanwhile, the Dubai Thalassaemia Centre, which was established in 1989, is a specialised centre that provides patients who suffer from the recessive genetic disease with specialised services provided by a skilled team who utilises existing techniques in effective ways to save thalassemia patient's lives.

The DAMMI feature in the DHA's flagship app; makes it easier to donate blood in Dubai as it allows blood donors to answer the donation eligibility questionnaire and read pre-donation educational material through their mobile phones before they come to the donation centre. Through this app, donors can also receive invitations for activities related to blood donation and get notifications regarding donation campaigns. The application also allows the public to register their details to be contacted during emergencies and disasters to donate blood.
