Sharjah, April 4, 2020:  The Board of Trustees of the Sharjah Excellence Award stated that the registration for the seven categories of the award is now open and will last until the end of October 2020.

The Award is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and organized by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry, SCCI.

The SCCI called on the business communities in the UAE and GCC to take part in the Award and to make use of its numerous benefits, including the awareness programs and courses which aim to enhance the culture of institutional quality and excellence and adopt the best practices in the private sector.
This year, the activities will be available only online as part of the SCCI's keenness on the health and safety of everyone in light of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

A Unique Award Across the Region

His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI and the Board of Trustees of Sharjah Excellence Award, thanked the board members and appreciated the efforts exerted by the staff members, evaluation committees, the jury committees, the advisors, and the strategic partners in the previous edition, something which helped consolidate the Award's status and reputation as one of the most important awards in the region.

Al Owais called on the Award's staff members to intensify their efforts in promoting the various categories of the award, so as to achieve its message in terms of enhancing the role of the private sector in the economic integration process. This can be achieved by developing the private sector's facilities and enhance its performance and efficiency not only in Sharjah but also on the GCC.

This in line with the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

Promoting the Investment Climate

The SCCI's Chairman underlined the importance of the Sharjah Excellence Award as one the most prominent initiatives aimed at developing competitiveness and promoting the investment climate for the UAE and Gulf business communities and allowing them to employ the values of quality, leadership, and innovation. This would help enhance the growth of commercial and industrial businesses and build a sustainable economy, especially in light of the latest development of the world economy due to the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

Open to All Economic Enterprises

Nada Al Hajri, General Coordinator of the Sharjah Excellence Award, said that the registration is open to all companies and the small, medium, and large enterprise via email and website, noting that the enterprises can submit their files until the end of November 2020, while evaluation process will take place from December 2020 to January 2021.

She called on all economic enterprises in Sharjah, UAE, and GCC to participate in the award, stressing the SCCI's keenness to constantly develop the award as part of its vision to be the driving force of the economic development in Sharjah and UAE and to become a regional hub for the best practices, as well as to enhance the culture of quality and excellence.

Based on the excellence model of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) which forms a comprehensive management framework for more 30,000 enterprises worldwide, the seven award categories are the Sharjah Excellence Award, Sharjah Gulf Excellence Award, Sharjah Green Award, Sharjah Small & Medium Enterprise Award, Sharjah CSR Award, Sharjah Entrepreneurs Award, and Sharjah Gulf Localization Award.

The Sharjah Excellence Award aims to strengthen corporate governance and encourage the adoption of quality standards and business ethics, through arbitration methodologies aligned with international best practices and the latest models of institutional evaluation. The award is also committed to helping the private sector in Sharjah enhance their performance and services, as well as their responsibilities toward the community, in addition to encouraging environmentally friendly practices and enhancing the role of economic enterprises in driving forward the sustainable development.
