    Abu Dhabi-Based Khalifa University Develops 3D-Printed Glasses to Help Correct Color Blindness

    Abu Dhabi, UAE – 16, August 2022: Khalifa University of Science and Technology, a consistently top-ranked research-intensive university based in Abu Dhabi, has developed a new method to manufacture customized glasses using 3D printing that could help people with color blindness. Color Vision Deficiency (CVD) is an inherited ocular disorder that manifests itself in limiting the retina cones’ ability to transmit the whole spectrum of colors. With red-green color blindness being the most prevalent form of CVD, the most common way of dealing with everyday difficulties is in wearing tinted glasses.     Carnegie Mellon and Qatar University Win National Programming Competition

    Teams qualify for regional competition in Egypt Teams from Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) and Qatar University took the top two spots at the 2022 Qatar Collegiate Programming Competition (QCPC). Both teams will advance to the regional competition, held in Egypt in December. The competition was hosted by CMU-Q, a Qatar Foundation partner university. The students on the winning team—Thang Bui, Andrey Genze and Ulan Seitkaliyev—are studying computer science at CMU-Q. All three students placed in the top two of last year’s competition as well.     Carnegie Mellon Receives Grants for AI Research into Key Areas for Qatar

    CMU-Q researchers tackle three new projects supported by Qatar National Research Fund Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), a Qatar Foundation partner university, will be using expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) to address the priorities of food sustainability, energy sustainability, and Arabic language proficiency in three new grants from the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF).     WCM-Q Welcomes New Class of Future Doctors with Orientation Program

    Doha – July 24, 2022: Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q) has inducted its new class of trainee physician-scientists to the college with a three-day orientation program which concluded with an opening exercises ceremony.  This year’s intake brings 49 new medical students to WCM-Q, 47 of whom were promoted after completing the college’s two-year pre-medical curriculum, while two were admitted from other universities.
