Tumour removed and new jaw fitted after a 15-hour operation
Riyadh: The face and jaw surgery team at Buraidah's General Hospital (central Saudi Arabia) managed on Tuesday, September 20th to end the suffering of an 18-year-old patient from a cancerous tumour in his lower jaw.
The Qassim Health cluster confirmed that the patient was transferred to the hospital's Maxillofacial dept suffering from a tumour in the lower left jaw for 3 years. A quick decision was taken to operate on the patient and remove the affected jawbone, which was replaced by using his own leg fragment aided by 3D-printed missing parts. The operation, which ran for 15 hours, was successful and the patient is currently recovering at the hospital.

The decision included the transfer of all financial and contractual obligations and rights related to health services currently provided by the Ministry, to the Health Holding Company or any of its subsidiaries.

Local efforts reduced the number of transfers to major cities
Riyadh: King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital in Taif (west Saudi Arabia) successfully accomplished 998 cardiac catheterizations and 10 open-heart surgeries during the first half of this year.
Taif Health explained that the heart center at the hospital achieved this through a local team of dedicated surgeons aided with the latest medical equipment to provide integrated services for heart patients, which contributed to the decline in the number of patients who seek treatment in other Saudi cities.

Riyadh: Saudi Health said on Monday, August 8, that its 937 toll-free hotlines received 8.8 million calls during the first half of 2022. Of those 2.5 million calls inquired about urgent medical consultations, while 350 thousand calls reported incidents that were resolved promptly, achieving a customer satisfaction rate of 89.6%.

Rapid intervention ended the two-year-old suffering from rare headaches
Riyadh: A Saudi surgical team at the Maternity & Children Hospital of Makkah managed to end the suffering of a two-year-old child from recurrent brain infections due to a congenital cyst.
The medical team explained that the mother noticed the child holding his head and crying continuously, the condition developed into pus coming out of the back of his head, in addition to a decrease in consciousness.
When he was transferred to the hospital, an MRI was performed, which revealed an increase in the size of the congenital cyst with pus gathering in the cerebellum, pressuring the neighboring nerve tissue, a condition that could have been fatal if not treated.
