Sports fans in the Middle East are spoilt for choice over the coming months, with a host of thrilling events scheduled to be hosted in the region.

Formula 1, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and the DP World Tour Championship are among the organisations staging events in the Middle East.

Each of them will rely heavily on modern technology to deliver world-class sporting experiences for fans who travel to the region.

With that in mind we look at what is on the agenda, starting with an event that will likely attract plenty of interest in online betting circles.

Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix – October 8

Qatar missed out on staging a Grand Prix last season due to the FIFA World Cup, but has secured a ten-year contract to host races from 2023.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen is the favourite with the bookmakers to win this season's Drivers' Championship and he could be tough to beat in Qatar.

However, top sportsbook 1XBET will likely be wary of British star Lewis Hamilton, who won the inaugural edition of this race two years ago.

Their super-slick betting interface is sure to be inundated with punters eager to wager on all the action at the stunning Lusail International Circuit.

Abu Dhabi Showdown Week - UFC 294 – October 21

The UFC has built up a strong following in the Middle East and will cement that link-up by staging a week-long festival of events in Abu Dhabi in October.

The mixed martial arts promotion will mark its 30th birthday with a series of celebratory events crowned by what promises to be a stacked UFC 294 card.

The headline bout is yet to be announced, but could reportedly feature Islam Makhachev defending the lightweight title he won last October.

Live streaming technology will be a central component of UFC 294, with the event scheduled to be broadcast to a massive global audience.

DP World Tour Championship – November 16-19

The DP World Tour Championship will take place on the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai from November 16-19.

First staged on the course in 2009, the tournament has been won by several top players including Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.

The latter player secured his third DP World Tour Championship victory last season, while McIlroy ended the year top of the DP World Tour rankings.

A key part of last year's event was the DP World Tour Container, which used real-time tracking technology to allow fans to follow it as it collected golf balls to redistributed at grassroots level.

Dubai World Cup – March 30

The eyes of the horse racing world will be on Meydan Racecourse next March as the 28th edition of the Dubai World Cup is staged.

The race is the culmination of the prestigious Dubai World Cup Carnival, which runs from early January until the final week in March.

The total prize money for the Dubai World Cup race last year was a whopping $12 million, with the winning connections pocketing a cool $7.2m.

A feature of the event is the closing ceremony, which featured drones, aerobatic planes, pyrotechnics and more in 2022.
