Eating less actually makes it more difficult to lose weight. |
|

Sunblock |

Acne and zit tips |
9/7/2001 |
| Wash regularly with medicated soap or detergent lotion and hot water. If this does not work, try antiseptic and keratolytic creams. Your chemist will advise you which to use.
Try not to touch your face with your hands - you just leave more germs on it, and it has enough to cope with already.
Don't squeeze or pick the spots or blackheads - you will make them worse, quite apart from damaging your skin structure and leaving scars.
If fatty foods, such as chocolate, cheese, nuts and fried food, or sweets, make your spots worse, stop eating them.
Fresh fruits and raw vegetables are far better for your skin.
Try to get sunlight on your face in short bursts and without burning your skin.
Keep your hair short and wash it regularly. The oil on dirty hair that falls on your face can cause spots.
If you have to use cosmetics, ask your chemist for a non-greasy make.
If your spots turn into cysts, go and see your doctor. He may prescribe antibiotics, or a hormone or vitamin A preparation, which are necessary to prevent the cysts from turning into scars.
For acne that hasn't seemed to respond to anything: Use 2-3 teaspoons of dried basil leaves to 1 cup boiling water. Steep 10-20 minutes.
Cool, and apply with cotton ball

Travel Health Tips |

| 1 Malaria
If you are planning to go to a malaria endemic area you have to start
taking malarial prophylaxis tablets (different tablets depending on the
country you are visiting) 2 weeks before traveling out of your country of
residence and 4 weeks after you come back.
Before traveling to the African countries ensure that you take yellow
fever vaccination. This is in the form of a single injection which will
protect you for ten years.
3 Flu jab
You need to take a flu jab when you go to a country with high density of
population eg. places of religious significance, and preferably annually. In order to ensure your on-going immunity to influenza. This is true for the elderly and those with impaired immunity (e.g. diabetics).
4 Hepatitis A and B
Generally speaking you should be protected against Hepatitis A and B and
typhoid but this is absolutely critical when you are traveling to developing countries. These are extremely infectious and dangerous diseases. Hepatitis B can also be transmitted sexually therefore adequate precaution has to be taken.
5 Hepatitis A
You need to take 2 doses 6 months apart, this will give you a lasting protection. Ensure that you take the vaccination well in advance before your holiday
6Hepatitis B
You need to take 2 injections, 4 weeks apart and a third injection about 3
months later. Ensure that you complete your vaccination course much in advance to your holiday. The hepatitis B is effective for 7 years.
7 Typhoid
You need to take 2 doses 4 weeks apart, which will cover you for 3 years, after which you will need a booster shot to keep your vaccination level effective.
