To be Focal Point of Ramadan & Eid Shopping & Entertainment activities
Sharjah, UAE, 19 June 2016:
The stage is set for the region’s most anticipated shopping and entertainment extravaganza during the holy month of Ramadan – the Ramadan Village 2016.
The Ramadan Village 2016 was inaugurated on Thursday, 16th June by H. E. Abdalla Sultan Al Owais, Chairman Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The opening was attended Mr. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO, Expo Centre Sharjah, Board Members and other dignitaries.
Organized by Al Hader Exhibitions & Conferences and hosted by Expo Centre Sharjah, the Ramadan Village 2016 will offer 24 days of unlimited fun, entertainment and shopping opportunities from June 16 to July 9, catering to those observing the solemn fasting period as well as the festivities associated with Eid Al Fitr.
Packed with a host of activities, this year’s fair will feature cultural and religious programmes, a heritage village, food courts, health awareness programmes, quiz contests, amusement rides & games and raffle draws, which will be a big draw for residents as well as visitors.
“The Ramadan Village complements a series of events held across Sharjah and the UAE to mark the holy month and the ensuing El Al Fitr celebrations. Given the wide range of products that will be on display and the vast variety of cultural and entertainment activities that are lined up for over three weeks, it will be the perfect family and tourist destination this Ramadan,” said Mr. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO, Expo Centre Sharjah.
This is the second year the fair will be organized by an external organizer, Al Hader Exhibitions & Conferences, in the 29-year history of the Ramadan show.
“It was a great experience organizing such a high-profile show that has got an exceptional mix of shopping, entertainment, food, heritage, charity, religious and health awareness components. In association with Expo Centre Sharjah, we could present a great show last year, and, this year we aim to present a bigger and better event for visitors from all walks of life,” said Mr. Nasser Al Hader, General Manager of Al Hader Exhibitions & Conferences.
For the first time, the fair will be showcasing two pavilions -- the Indian Pavilion and the Chinese Pavilion. The pavilions will provide visitors an opportunity to explore two distinctive cultures, their traditions, a diverse range of household goods and other products, besides a chance to experience their cuisine and culinary heritage.
With several of Sharjah’s government departments and civic agencies continuing their association with the fair, visitors can expect to see a lot of programmes that will have their support, guidance and active participation.
The popular heritage village will feature Emirati heritage and culture, artefacts and a photo gallery that will bring into focus the life and culture in the past, while the Sharjah Museums Department will showcase antiques and the Sharjah Islamic Affairs Department will display photographs of mosques.
The Ramadan Village, which usually attracts more than 100,000 visitors, will be open to visitors from 8 pm to 2am daily.
